Diana has over twenty years experience in the construction industry.  She began her career with a small general contracting firm, managing the office, preparing CPM schedules and providing estimating assistance to company principals.  She was employed for eight years as a field estimator for a concrete subcontractor specializing in precast walls and retaining walls.  She then spent almost a decade working for the City of San Jose’s Building Division, first in their permit center and then as a Combination Building Inspector, performing inspections in multiple trades on Residential, Commercial and Multi-Family projects.  She holds certifications from the International Code Council as a Building Inspector; from the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials as both a Plumbing and Mechanical Inspector; from the State of California Safety Assessment Program as a Disaster Service Worker and the State of California Department of General Services as an Access Specialist.  Her education includes San Francisco State University’s Construction Practices Program, San Jose State University’s Professional Development Program and over 250 hours of continuing education in analysis of code requirements, changes and updates.  She offers a unique combination of knowledge, skill and experience acquired from many years in the industry which enables her to view challenges and corresponding solutions from different vantage points.  She believes in treating all interested parties with respect, is fair and reasonable in her enforcement role and is always focused on achieving cooperative compliance on code and accessibility issues.
