Keith has worked in the building and construction industry for more than 30 years. He began his career in 1972, building houses in Colorado. In 1974 he returned to his native California and worked as a carpenter through Local 743. In 1984 he joined the Building Inspection Division of Kern County as a Building Inspector. After two years, he was promoted to the position of Area Manager. Keith was hired by the City of Roseville in 1997 and in 2008, Keith was instrumental in assisting the City of Roseville Building Division receive recognition as the first accredited building division in the State of California. Accreditation signifies that the city's Building Department operates under the highest professional and technical standards and verifies that the department is professionally qualified to provide a high standard of public safety. After more than twelve years with the City of Roseville, Keith retired in June 2009 from his position as Senior Building Inspector. In that position, he supervised nine inspectors in all phases of commercial and residential construction, analyzed inspection problems and prepared code interpretations, performed complex field inspections, and coordinated building inspection activities with other city departments, divisions, and outside agencies. Keith holds twenty-one professional certifications including: Master Code Professional, Certified Building Code Official, and California Accessibility Specialist. Keith was a member of the Northridge Earthquake Damage Assessment Team (1994). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Cal-State Bakersfield and served in the Army as an Air Traffic Controller. Keith’s training and background along with his substantial experience working with architects, developers and contractors makes him uniquely qualified to help builders and developers find cost-effective solutions to code compliance and accessibility issues.
